Note	Son William died aged 4, buried Aberdare ‎(Aberdare PR)‎, leaving his daughter, Jane Margaret Maud Davies as his only successor. His will published Aug 6 1910, ‎(see image file Family Davies - Will of Dr.David DAVIES of Aberdare)‎ leaves all - approx. £80,000 - to his daughter after making provision for his wife during her lifetime. See card index notes from Aberdare Library, discovered by Glyn Davies: in associated image file: Family Davies/Glynn Davies Input/David Davies P.1/2/3. He presided the Feast of Oddfelows at the Green Dragon 8 Jul 1848 ‎(picture of Green Dragon on file)‎ Copies of death certificates certified by him on file - in Commercial Street/Commercial Place, Seymour Street, Station Street, and Clifton Street, Aberdare between 1875 and 1890.
Note	The photograph, provided by Glyn Davies, was published in “Aberdare Pictures from the Past” volume two by the Cynon Valley History Society, published 1992.It was accompanied by the following text: The town's leading medical practitioner throughout the greater part of the nineteenth century was Dr. David Davies J.P., F.R.C.S. He was born at Cwmaserbren Farm, Rhondda, in 1821 and came to Aberdare in 1844 when the parish had a population of some 7000 and only one other doctor. Dr. Davies became the Medical Officer of Health in 1854, a position which he held until his retirement in 1909. He also had his own medical practice which 'extended pretty generally over the whole parish'. He lived at Bryngolwg, Wind Street ‎(since 1922 the Aberdare United Services Club)‎ and his surgery was at the rear of the house. Dr. Davies married a daughter of Joseph Coffin of Merthyr Tydfil and was Thomas Wayne's brother-in-law.
