Powell Family History
Powells in the United States of America - North-West
Thomas
Powell, son of our great grandfather Rees Powell by his first wife
Margaret, married his cousin Elizabeth Lougher Powell and the couple
emigrated to North America shortly after their marriage in 1895. Their
first two children, Ivor and Margaret, were born in Idaho, U.S.A., in
1897 and 1898: Then in 1901 they appear in the Canadian Census in the
Yale & Caribou District of British Columbia (found by Lynne Davis).
Three more children are born in Canada before 1910, when the US
census shows them living in Bonner County, Idaho, after which they
remain in the U.S.A. By 1920 Thomas and Elizabeth and their family
had settled in Island County, Washington State, where they were to
remain for the remainder of Thomas' life and where Elizabeth was still
living in 1930. Both Thomas and Elizabeth and several of their children
were buried at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupville, Washington. We know this,
and a good deal more which is recorded in the database, thanks to one
of Thomas and Elizabeth's descendants Deb White, now living in Colorado.
