There
were several connections between our ancestors and the Glamorgan
Loveluck Family. The closest to our direct line was the family of James Loveluck,
born 7 Aug 1829 in Kenfig, Glamorgan. James married Mary David, one of
the daughters of Griffith David, our great-great grandfather, and
sister of our great grandmother, Catherine David. But the
connection went further than that because James died tragically at the
age of 39, leaving Mary with a family of five young children to raise.
By this time, Mary's sister Catherine, had married our great
grandfather Rees Powell, and their sister Margaret had married Rees'
brother Thomas Powell (see also David Family History).
This left Edward, the youngest of the Powell brothers, as the only
bachelor in the Powell family; but that was not to last long. In
December 1876, Edward married Mary David, and brought up James
Loveluck's five children as his own.
Another
James Loveluck who is also connected to our Powell line - a
present day descendant of the Glamorgan Loveluck family - has made
an extensive study of Loveluck Family History and his Loveluck Family History Website provides
a wealth of detail on the family in Glamorgan and elsewhere, so I shall
not attempt to expand further here. James is a direct descendant of William Loveluck (#367) and Anne Powell (#121),
daughter of Jehoshaphat Powell, which makes us 5th cousins. He has
recently converted his site to use the full functions of PhpGedView as
used by this site and we are cooperating to ensure that our sites
complement each other with a minimum of duplication.
